North Idaho high schoolers compete in ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Math Contest

High schoolers from across Kootenai County gathered at ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s Coeur d’Alene campus to compete in ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ’s 42nd annual Math Contest on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The event included multiple divisions, with students competing in junior and senior categories and featured a team competition between schools.

In the senior category of Division 1, Coleton Lundwall from Post Falls High School finished in first place, Alexander Esposito from Coeur d’Alene High School took second, Lucas Wessels from Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy placed third and Matthew Armstrong from Lake City High School earned an honorable mention.

In the junior category in Division 1, Alistair Smith from Coeur d’Alene High School won first place, Alessandro Banchi from Coeur d’Alene High School finished in second, Madelyn Wright from Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy placed third and Sofia Keese from Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy earned an honorable mention.

Coeur d’Alene High School won first place in the Division 1 team competition.

North Idaho STEM Charter Academy swept the Division 2 senior category with, Konner Knoll earning first place, followed by Ciara Landon in second and Tess Fallquist in third.

North Idaho STEM Charter Academy also swept the Division 2 junior category, with Adley Garwick placing first, followed by Baylie Asper in second and Emmett Hernandez in third.

North Idaho STEM Charter Academy finished in first place in the Division 2 team competition.

Each participant also earned a $1,000 scholarship to attend ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ for competing in the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Math Contest.

“We really just want to recognize all the hard work these students put into competing in the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Math Contest,” ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ President Nick Swayne said. “We hope to see each and every one of these kids back on our campus.”
